A leisurely walk on tarmac giving good views of Settle and the surrounding area from the Highroad. There's also a stop off point at Watershed Mill for a cup of tea and some retail therapy! Route Description Starting at the gates of Whitefriars Guesthouse turn right and follow the main road towards the market place. Take the first road to the left virtually opposite The Royal Oak and begin climbing up Constitution Hill past the Co Op shop which used to be the cinema many years ago.The road bends to the left and levels off. This quiet road is known as the High Road. Follow this road for about half a mile enjoying the views till you reach the junction with the Horton-in-Ribblesdale road. Turn sharp left and follow this road back towards Settle. After passing underneath the Settle - Carlisle railway look out for Watershed Mill on the right hand side where there are shops and a cafe if your'e feeling thirsty. Carrying on towards Settle look out for the archimedes screw electricity turbine on the riverbank.There is a viewing platform which can be accessed from a small private car park. Turn left when you reach a T junction pass under the railway bridge and follow the main road back to Whitefriars.
