Routebeschrijving
Park at the free parking of the Cableway Merano 2000. From here, take the cable car (21 euro round trip, run each 15 minutes, first run at 8:30) and from here, head north following the easy and large route. You'll reach a well labeled gate, that will bring you straight to the start of the Via Ferrata (route 13).
You can dress the equipment just before the start, there's a dedicated wooden starting platform you can use. The via Ferrata is in excellent condition as of Jul 2021, since it was opened in 2016. The chain is a solid steel rope always in perfect tension, that will help you in the few spots where you'll need it with both your hands.
There are just a couple of technical passages, but overall the via is mostly easy and safe due to the huge number of rings. There are 16 sectors, well labeled, that will track your progress. Stunning views and cool rock passages are labeled as well. After difficult passages there is often the space needed for a rest.
When you'll reach the top (at least 3h doing it without any rush), you can still wear your gear if you want to proceed to the summit of Ivigna. There are however two routes, and one of them is not a real via Ferrata. This tracks does not goes to the summit due to bad weather.
The return trip is easy (1:30h): head towards the only house/refugee you'll see, and turn right as soon as the route allows it (19). You'll reach back the easy and large route you walked at the start of the journey. From here, take the cable car back to the parking spot.
