in de buurt Kaler, Syunikʼ (አርሜኒያ)

This trail starts from Kaler village and leads you to 2 stunning mountains in Syunik region - Baghatssar and Khustup.

It's quite challenging trail for a day hike, but this takes pride of place in my "fantastic hikes of ever" list.

Baghatssar mountain ( Բաղացսար ) with a height of 3249 m is the highest summit of the Meghri mountain range ( Մեղրիի լեռներ / Մեղրու լեռներ ) .

Khustup is a mountain, which is in the list of the most beautiful mountains of Armenia.
Khustup mountain ( Խուստուփ լեռ ) is the highest peak of Khustup -Katari range ( Խուստուփ - Կատարի լեռներ ) situated in Syunik region, Armenia.
This is a mount with fantastic area in Syunik province, Armenia.

Some information about the trail~~~

--- There are no doubts where is the best point to start the hike - it's definitely Kaler village ( Կալեր գյուղ ), the only nearby village around Meghri mountains.

--- Kaler is mostly an abandoned village and only 2-3 families live there in season ( summer period).

--- SEASON for this trail starts from June till early November. If you are fond of greenery, it's better to hike the mount till early August, if you like golden landscapes more - hike from mid August till November.
After mid November till the end of May, the peaks are normally covered with snow.

--- Mountain ranges of Syunik region usually have fantastic views of clouds below the summit, as it happened during our hike.

--- First part of the hike is easier, you follow 4 x 4 vehicle traces, then it's straight up (when you gain about 450 m altitude).
Going down from Baghatssar is a little bit "uncomfy hike" as there are no trails for 2 kms, then you join the vehicle traces which lead you to Khustup.

--- The trail ends when you reach Khustup summit, so it's not the whole length of the hike if you don't plan setting a tent near Nzdeh' statue there.
In case you want have a classic trail of getting down from Khustup to Navcha campsite -Baghabughj village - Kapan city, search for " Baghatsar - Khustup - Kapan " trail in my trails' section.
