Marinella di Sarzana - Fiumaretta - Marinella di Sarzana 6.8 km

This easy hike from Marinella di Sarzana is nice if you are staying there and would like to make a round-trip instead of walking along the beach. It takes you across the beach to the Magra estuary, the village of Fiumaretta and back through the agricultural area just behind the coastal zone.
You start in Marinella di Sarzana, and directly enter the beach, and walk along the beach to where the Magra river flows into the sea. You walk to the dam separating the river from the beach and then walk along the river on the promenade into the Fiumaretta village. After about 700 m you turn away from the river and walk to an unpaved country road taking you out of the village into agricultural scenery. You pass by a small farm and then cross the main road to Sarzana. You continue along a canal on the Via Piero Gobetti. Just before you reach the highway you turn right and pass a farm on your way back to Marinella di Sarzana. On entering the village you see a monument (monumento di Carlo Fabbricotti) and a chapel on your right (west) that you could walk to and back (another 180 m and back). Instead I went left and passed through the part of the village that you normally would not see. You cross the main road to get back to the starting point.
There are several places to eat and drink on the sea front, the beach, and also along the Magra river.
