Another great adventure with 33 North (Gilbert Moukheiber). You need a permit from the army to be able to cross the army checkpoint. We parked just before the army post and we started our walk on a near flat dirt road. After 2 km, we left the road and continued our hike off-trail. The ascent is moderate but long. Sceneries are beautiful. At a good pace we reached Ain Jernaya (2350 m ) in less than 3 hours. From this point, we were at less than 500 m ascent from the summit. Unfortunately and while preparing to continue our ascent, a group of lebanese soldiers came and told us not to go further towards the summit. Just to mention that lebanese army doesn't usually have a post at this point but they were present to assist a group of scouts visiting the mountain. Never expect to go higher than "Ain Jernaya", it is not actually allowed by the army. If for any reason, you are able to continue the ascent, check my other trail of Mount Hermon ascent done in Winter to follow the way to the summit (In march 2019, we climbed this mountain and reached the summit without any problem). From Ain Jernaya, we started our descent in a steep rocky valley till we reached the dirt road. We followed this road till our starting point. Always start your hikes very early in summer, the heat is exhausting and you need lot of water.

Hello Rami, I am planning to hike Mount Hermon. I was reading your review. It is impossible to reach the summit at 2814!?

Will we be stopped by anyone !?
    What about the Syrian Army!?

You're the best at providing info.
    Best,
    Paul

@boulosal, please note that you can't reach the summit as the lebanese army won't allow it (abiding by the rules is the better option). On the summit the Nepalese troupes don't allow civilians to visit as there was an incident few years back.

@BouloSal. Im sorry for not replying. I just saw your question after Radwan's reply. It is not recommended to go higher than Ain Jernaya. We reached the summit in Winter couple of years ago but it is actually forbidden to go there.
@radwan thanks for replying on my behalf :)
